Run while you can

Fallen so far, so hard, this Seraph. Once a child of paradise now cast into the urban disease, torture and horror of Mexico City. Her discard into the streets was delayed for many years though; dominated by one of the few remaining Lictors of Binah she, confused and misled, followed his commands and was made to offer her nature to select believers for conversion. It was a task she fell in easily - to assuage her grief and loss. Her memories of paradise faded with her new role as icon for a conservative church. However, those times changed and with President Salina's re-establishment of ties to the Vatican in the 1990's Binah's Lictors took a more active role. Up until now, Sofia had been used sparingly and kept away from humanity unless needed. Bishop Gonzalez was removed and in stepped his replacement who has a much more hard-line approach to keeping the Illusion.

Under the influence of the Lictor, Bishop Antonio Guerrero, Sofia found herself with new orders. The Lictor explained to her that people were disappearing in a contained area and the walls of reality were failing. She was, he told, to masquerade as a mortal and discover the cause of these disturbances and relate back to the Lictor her findings.

Sent into the streets she was awakened to the misery and she grew anxious. The Ciccatri observed her weakness and within several days they took to her, believing her easy meat to lure others to the Chimera. Ambushed and surprised the Ciccatri beat her senseless and dragged her back to the Ossuary where they force fed her the drug and raped and beat her further. As she slipped into dream her mind touched with the Chimera now feeding from her pain and humiliation. The effect was explosive and she recoiled, awakening, surprising the Ciccatri who'd left her bleeding and sleeping on the floor. She ran and ran. The Ciccatri believed the Chimera had taken her.

Sofia collapsed not far from the Ossuary, weakened from the entire encounter with the Ciccatri & Chimera. It was here that Father Ernesto found her - always on the look out for more of those prostitutes who were cast out by the 'monsters' to wither and die. He carried her back during the dark of night to the church's basement and chained her with the other women in various states of decay and emaciation. She awoke and her weakness disallowed immediate escape. She saw the other women here, dying - empty of essence. Then Father Ernesto came dressed in his priestly regalia and she was relieved. But what she thought was her rescue became her torment. Father Ernesto carried out his sexual and sadistic acts upon her. He slowly found that she had resilience unlike the other women who soon rotted away.

Living in the stink of decay and the constant nightly torture by Father Ernesto, Sofia grew weaker and weaker. The Chimera's touch also drained her body, but much slower and Father Ernesto's curiosity was piqued. He tortured her as far as he could go, letting himself go where he had never been. Then one night he pushed the boundaries further than ever and her true form became known to him. Terrified, excited and guilty he ran to his vestibule and locked himself away. Her screams from that session became disjointed in her waking/unconscious states and called the Chimera closer, feeding off her increasing suffering. The Chimera, knowing Sofia's nature, saw a chance to feed more through her by freeing her and releasing her.

Sofia escaped with strength lent by the Chimera. She stumbled through the streets, her mind altered in madness and through the constant link with the Chimera. Sofia's first egress into society was a gang-rape by a drunk group of death-metallers. Hallucinating in her schizophrenia, doors unlocked around her and the death-metallers found themselves transplanted into the dream of the Chimera… and as Sofia awoke and they were left, the Ciccatri descended upon them tearing their bones from their bodies.

Now a walking gateway, Sofia's beauty and weakness is preyed upon by many, but all find themselves taken to somewhere else…

Sofia has no control over her life. She is dimly aware of where she is, but cannot plan or think beyond the present. Her past is occluded and her future is never considered.

appearance: Sofia is angelically beautiful, her skin pale white, almost blue and her hair ivory, yet matted and unwashed. Her features are graceful and flawless. Her body is thin, but not to the point where bones would show. She is cold to touch and those who do so feel a strange sense - which feels much like being in the centre of a tornado, but instead of wind it is suffering that swirls around her.

personality: Sofia used to be a trusting angel, to the point of naivety. Her faith in the Lictor's goals and Binah's guiding hand absolute. Should she be able to think clearly now, she would be challenged and possibly break from the control of Bishop Antonio. She loathes suffering and would do all she could to make pain fade, but now all she feels is her own.

game-mastering hints: Act distant and vacant. Do not answer questions, but be defenseless and reluctant. Be hollow and cold… the fire within is hidden very deep.

plot points: Sofia is pivotal to many groups. Bishop Antonio Guerrero is concerned over her disappearance and lack of forthcoming information from her and has sent minions in search of her. Father Ernesto wants to search for her but is locked in his church with feelings of claustrophia/agrophobia and a ton of guilt. Also in search of her is a leading post-modern artist and passion magician, José Sánchez. He saw her as he wandered the streets with his coterie of groupies and instantly noticed her power and fell in love with her divine form. However, any threat to Sofia will be noticed by the Chimera who will use the Ciccatri and the Death Magician to stop any harm to her.
