This writer takes the view that all Mesoamerican cultures in the Mexico region were not varied in their culture or religious style, but that the gods of this area transcended cultural barriers, sometime reinterpreted or sometimes not. The Illusion masked these truths in academic divisioning and anthropological evolutionary hypotheses. Current understanding of religion in Mesoamerica is biased by lictors and their masters. Binah is chief among this within Mexico, her western academia distilling indigenous culture like in many other areas of the world. The following is a brief history of the Lords of Night. A more detailed history of Mexico will follow later.
Before the times of history
Ruled by Mictantecuhtli, the nine Lords of the Night who ruled over the Long Count during the night hours were functions. They embodied time pieces, time pieces created by the Demiurge for one purpose - to entrap mankind separated in the Americas. As parts of the tun (360-day year), they gave an allure to mankind as a new concept and a way of defining themselves within the Illusion. As such the culture that grew within this melting pot of manifested deities of symbolic purpose, grew strong and refined, technology grew and they, the people saw new ways at looking at what they believed were old things. They questioned and noticed parallels and built temples and harnessed great magics. Their priests ruled cities of blood with seraphim and nepharite bound side by side. The priests' rise continued and the first humans began to push the boundaries and realize their divinity. Some of the so-called gods helped humans realize their freedom, but most followed their portfolio to the limit.
1521 C.E.
The Demiurge saw no other way. He paved the way for Cortes to deal with the Illusion side of the obliteration. In Teotihuacan, the Demiurge swept mankind away and eradicated them, leaving only their temples built with occult harmony and angles in mind to pry open massive portals beyond the Illusion, but without their builders and manipulators, are now useless. The northern Americas was where the Demiurge destroyed massive cities moreso than the people who were not as magically aware as their southern brethrens. And as the north tried to recover from scratch they too were invaded and their history written. This was all in preparation for the colonization of the United States, whereas the people of the southern Americas needed to be taught a most brutal lesson. Oppression was instantly required to dissuade them from prying beyond the Illusion.
Not all of the Demiurge's intentions came about in his initial attack, but Binah and Netzach soon dealt to the task of burning magical libraries, obliterating temples, and their triumph the utter destruction of Tenochtitlan and the Catedral Metropolitana to follow. Old gods were no longer needed. Tenochtitlan was the seat of Mictantecuhtli's seat of power between the Illusion and Inferno. The current incarnate at that time for Binah caught the Lords of the Night during the day and bound them in ritual manner and dealt with them, rendering them dormant and vitiating their portfolios so as to still keep the people superstitious and ready to accept a new power, a new religion to replace their lost. Catholicism placed its claws into the people.
By the end of the 16th Century, all hieroglyphic writing, all iconography or anything associated with the priests was wiped out. The Spanish repressed native sacrifice. Temples, sculpture, cities, codices, rituals, mythology wiped out or suppressed in order to quell rebellion that could form from those catalysts. The domination did not wipe out the beliefs though. Strong oral tradition carried whispered songs, stories, and information through families. They remembered the tun, the Long Count, and the Lords of the Night even if only in passed down story.
1790's
Demiurge loses control over the Illusion. Myths seeped back into the minds of people and questioning begins. This culminates until the modern day's disappearance of the Demiurge.
What has happened to the Lords of the Night?
The Lords of the Night, in their dormant state, were initially stored in the catholic temples of the invaders, hidden by Lictors. The only Lord of the Night not carried was Mictantecuhtli, whose seat of power was a portal to Inferno at the heart of Tenochtitlan. The Lictors used the power of Mictantecuhtli to web the portal closed. In time, the Catedral Metropolitana would stand over the ruins of the city and hide the portal forever under Binah's seat of power in Mexico. The remaining eight Lords of the Night have been lost and disappeared from the Lictor's hands. The Lictor of Binah has no intention of reclaiming them. As it stands, protecting Mictantecuhtli is difficult enough.
The following consists of description of the Lords of the Night. More in depth descriptions will follow in the campaign updates. The Plot synopsis below will explain why the Lords of the Night are integral to the Mexican campaign, if not directly, indirectly.
Cinteotl
There is a maize field near Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico that leads to Gaia, a field fed by human captives where a young boy runs strange through the maize. Or at least that is the first appearance, but the God Bundle is manifested in the maize field itself. However, the God Bundle of Cinteotl is breaking down, his power becoming realized again, and this manifests in a painted yellow native with a jagged diagonal tattoo on the side of his face, who is never seen beyond the maize field.
The field lies within a large mountainous range, deep from steep and vertical sides to this verdant plaque mounting the rough grey stone. The mountains themselves lead to different places in history and other mountains. It is here that the family residing nearby the maize survive, in a strange symbiotic relationship with the God Bundle. They use the cliffs to take surprised travelers from different places in time, with only another missing person reported.
The family was brought into this place within Gaia moved on by subconscious desire to obey one of their Gods incarnate. They tended his form within the land and the maize field grew and slowly the landscape changed as Cinteotl manipulated his surroundings in relationship to the renewal. The blood and bodies of the travelers from all periods are scattered over the field every day, a ritual required in blood for the nourishment. Guests who travel here, however, are welcomed as friends, given shelter, food, and companionship, with no sign to let on to their other nature.
Just recently the family have noticed the painted yellow boy, running through the fields, appearing, but never leaving. They see it as a good sign and are preparing their daughters for eventual sacrifice, both virgins. The family has a tradition of living here, some five generations they claim. There is a high feeling of tension in the air, a physical electricity. The death and state of preparation of the young women for Cinteotl has the maize field exerting more consciousness and Cinteotl becoming more aware.
Chalciuhtlicue
She of the Jade Skirt. Dormant and under the power of the razide, Sangreal manipulated for his own use. Held at the heart of Sangreal's San Peridio's Church at the gateway between Inferno and the Illusion, the goddess gives birth. Still fulfilling her role of the goddess of birth, although now corrupted. Sangreal breached the God Bundle securely, and it is here that his sect bring him the still born children and fetus' of Mexico to place within the black, spongy folds oozing in thick syrupy blood of a dark brown fascination through the porous skin. All children places within her nature are drawn into a watery womb beyond the amorphous coral which resides in Inferno itself, where they are reborn as the Mechoro, under Sangreal's control. Not all birthed within the womb come back through into the Illusion, and for the meantime wait, a secret army for the defiant razide.
Tlazolteotl
Once a goddess of sexual purification, though dormant, Tlazolteotl still dreams, and her dreams are leaking out, forming a world which soon began to spill over into the city of Mexico. Unlike her wake self, her dreams express her darker desires. Her world is a seedy back alley of pubs and bars, dank in mist and rain, with little light, where the rape is with needles, and a harsh fuck against the wall, often by several partners. Her dream of fast, heady, and powerful exercises in human debauchery, just in sight of public, pushed those dreams and back alleys to merge with some of the highly chic clubs and bars of Mexico. One club that is manifesting from dream into the Illusion is the Tlazolli, as the goddess moves more and more into the world, she takes her debauchery into her own sanctum that is open to mankind. A sex/drug club. Its name means filth, and within it is not far from that truth.
The coupling within is of a Romanesque scale. In the centre of the room, is a free for all as people slick in sweat and bodily juices share with each other. The sex is unprotected and it is rampant. Semen can be spied on all bodies. Over a period of days as those addicted to the dream like sex within, find the semen brings coldsores and rashes, and those in the club, move to the sides of this massive harem-esque room, replete in boundless soft cushions. However, in the darkness the level of aesthetic deteriorates, and so do those engaging one another still. Now AIDS, Herpes, and other sexually transmitted diseases run rampant and eat away at the bodies who move further and further into the darkness. These diseases eat away until decayed flesh and bone remains, but even still they fuck.
Tlazolteotl is a young fifteen-year old girl, at the height of puberty and dangerously illegal. A goth doll with black lipstick, smeared a little too much over her lips. She, is pure and clean. Those she shares her body with in her club are prevented the slow sexual death and decay and they become attendants who promote the club and lure new young and beautiful people within. These chosen ones remain at the centre of the room sharing with everyone most times when not engaged in other duties. It is Tlazolteotl's fluid that is the flesh corruptor and she passes it on to these chosen ones to pass.
She needs nothing more than this dream of hers, perverted as it is, and she is not fully in control due to her lack of sentience. Desire drives her. Her ultimate desire is to mate with Xiuhtecuhtli, another Lord of the Night whom she senses in her sleep.
Her God Bundle's focus is buried deep in the earth several years before the Spanish arrival at Tenochtitlan, and it cannot be dug up in the present. It is a small jade statuette of a tall and pure woman, shattered into pieces and soaked within an airtight gourd filled with blood. It is held by the high priest of Tlaloc, but not in the temple of Tlaloc in Tenochtitlan, but on Mt. Tlaloc's shrine to the god of rain. Restoring the statue frees the goddess, but is useless to her beyond that.
Tlaloc
Supposedly a beneficient god, or at least is how he is viewed by those scholars and catholics firmly in control of the belief of the ancestors of Mexico. Tlaloc's nature was violent from the beginning, a violence of human genocide through natural means. Tlaloc's only appeasement was sacrifice of young children and to listen to their screaming and agony.
Tlaloc was perhaps a little too instinctual and primal to realize his fate as he rendered inert, his god bundle infused into the clouds and air over Tenochtitlan. As Tenochtitlan gave way to modern Mexico, the pollutants pumping into the sky tore at his fabric, dissolving him and corrupting what remains. Tlaloc serves as a net now, slowly imprisoning the entire Valley in a building toxic cloud. Tlaloc is beyond return. Aviators passing through the thickly clogged area sometimes find themselves lost in a black cloud which leads to wide internal tunnels of skin and flesh stretched as transparent as the clouds, large enough for a plane to fly, although not for long.
Sangreal is aware of Tlaloc, and how the old god could possibly affect his plans, and his death magicians are at work dissolving the rest of Tlaloc's flesh at an advanced rate, his rotting body remains to clog up the sky though.
Mictlantecuhtli
Ruler of Mictlan and known as the Lord of Darkness, but Mictlantecuhtli was much more than that. The strongest of the Lords of the Night. Sangreal uncovered Mictlantecuhtli's god bundle within Inferno at the spot where the door from Inferno to the Illusion stood at the point of the Catedral Metropolitana. The god had a city built around him, Chignahamictlan, though long left abandoned as he now formed the gate to this doorway into Mexico. Sangreal took residence within the city and it is here he maintains his army of Mechorro.
Sangreal found another opening and now works to try to break the seal that is the god bundle of Mictlantecuhtli in the catacombs beneath the Catedral Metropolitana where it is overwatched by Bishop Antonio Guerrero, the chief lictor of Binah in the city. There is a certain irony in the fact that Sangreal now seeks the remnants of the Lords of the Night when it was Quetzocoatl who stole the bones of previous eras of man to create the new race.
Xiuhtecuhtli
The Turquoise Lord was once revered in blood with the rising of the dawn. He achieved a rule over people like a monarch, feeding from their adulation with each sunrise. Not that he lorded over them, but he was the darkness giving birth to fire, and their libations added silver to the feast of bodies to honour him. Then it was simply removed. The old ways were discarded and suddenly Xiuhtecuhtli was hunted to be bound, dismantled and bundled… but the Turquoise Lord did resist and broke away from his attackers but the ritual was being completed. He took form within his seed to pass on to a young woman he raped, to bear child, but the ritual was completed and his bodily form froze, but the instincts of the women pushed her on to cutting deep into his genitals and finishing the mating with him, bloodied & stripped genitals oozing his seed now dormant. She gave birth and the seed passed along.
Xiuhtecuhtli's God Bundle infuses either intelligence or vigor into a man, who can pass along the God Bundle through intercourse unprotected with only a virginal woman. If the essence was caught and drunk the consumer would contain the God Bundle within him. To awaken the God Bundle requires intercourse of a nature of a forgotten god or the like. This will cause Xiuhtecuhtli to manifest awake within the body of the man so infused with the God Bundle. The seed does not pass on. Tlazolteotl desires Xiuhtechutli though she knows it not nor why. Xiuhtecuhtli manifests through the skin outward, changing the skin to yellow, hair a golden fire, and eyes of molten rock… his mouth is a gooey maw of blood and liquefied rock.
Tepeyollotl
Like Cinteotl, Tepeyollotl is forgotten. No longer dormant the Lord of the Night prowls the dark hours of all mountains within Mexico as a large jaguar manifested. Tepeyollotl has forgotten his fellow Lords of the Night and exists to kill and make fear. He eliminates and devours natives, but more the tourists who swim through the lands looking for new treasures. Their corpses are never found, their bones eaten.
Piltzintecuhtli
Once a god of young men is now Golab's insidious creation. The god bundle of Piltzintecuhtli was stolen by the Death Angel early on and manipulated and twisted into what is now known as The Voice of Pain. The Voice of Pain is an extreme torture for the God, his form of the beautiful young man taken from him and instead reconstructed from his form into a half meter long white parasite with the craving to become whole and mankind-like once again. But the torment was specifically worse, than eternal frustration. As each victim was devoured from the stomach, and finally dies the body disintegrating, the parasite split into two, and for each successive victim the god's pain excelled beyond comprehension. After the first hundred victims the god went mad and lost all comprehension of what he was, and lies in a void state within each of The Voice of Pain.
Itzli (Tecptal)
Very few western-biased records refer to Itzli, also once known as Tecptal. More volumes of information can be found on the other Lords of the Night. For reasons of detriment to the Illusion, most trace referring to Itzli was eviscerated from mankin's memory. Now he is referred to as a time piece, and nothing of his former grandeur. Only the Lictor Bishop Antonio Guerrero has vague memory of Itzli and he is doing his best to cast it away, with the God Bundle of Itzli forever hidden.
Sangreal's Plans
Sangreal has been amassing his strength for some time, always believing he could successfully challenge the Death Angels for dominion over the country. When they reacted to his statement of dominion, he saw the clouds coming for him, but the razide was much to prepared for that. Sangreal discovered the Lords of the Night in the city, Chignahamictlan, which had been the former seat of Mictlantecuhtli before he was used as a seal between the Illusion and Inferno. Sangreal then uncovered the portal to the Illusion from which priests of earlier had worshipped demons and black gods. He soon placed himself close to this by-way for razides and other legions of Inferno, and his power and strength grew. Already mightier, he used this crossroad as a bastion, a seat and harnessed the energies of the city and gathered tribute. He discovered the God Bundle, Chalciuhtlicue, after a great length of time. Then Amine Maccio entered the doorway and soon wooed her way before the mightiest Razide, Sangreal himself. Proven to him, he soon taught her in the ways of death and magic. She continually pried him for reasons why not to enter the Illusion and claim stronger dominion, all the while only interested in returning to the Illusion but as Gods, revered and feared just as they are to the Death Angels. She played on all elements of pride and desire, but it was only a calm and intelligent demeanour that he was convinced of her logical reasoning to return with her and establish a cult. It was here that he realized the potential for the God Bundle of Chalciuhtlicue.
From there he realized the power of the Lords of the Night, and more importantly what reviving them within himself he could do, which would be to throw daylight into darkness, and drag the Illusion into Inferno within his own dominion empowered with the Black Sun and the Lords of the Night who hold dominion over it. Also he realized the potency of over 30 million people sacrificing themselves to him as the eclipse of all eclipses took place and replaced their lives.
With this knowledge in motion he went to Golab and Hareb-Sarep and challenged them for the dominion of Mexico. Their reaction was one of clinical removal and routine. However, Sangreal is playing with odds that the two Death Angels do not realize. Hareb-Sarep has conceded to allow Golab to take care of the matter and as a result the Death Angel has brought Dr. Mortimer Blanco back to roost within the city with a purpose, to eliminate the razide and his activities. Hareb-Serap's passed over full co-operation of his death squads and police to Dr. Blanco, hired in the public eye to research new waves of drug-overdosed deaths of designer drugs. It fronts his real reason, of taking down any he sees fit, for torture and eventual death.
Sangreal is well aware, but he is one step ahead of the incarnate, preparing himself to take the Mictlantecuhtli God Bundle and dethrone the chief Lictor of Binah within the city, the good Bishop Antonio Guerrero, before Dr. Blanco can even act. Sangreal has already in preparation the incarnate's death. His purpose is clear, and that is to win the fight he challenged them for and he knows they underestimate him.
Sangreal does not need all the Lords of the Night God Bundles, he only needs at least five and he will take them at all costs.
Something that Sangreal does not realize is the truths to the tztizimime. It will be his downfall or his salvation. The star goddesses will sweep down upon the city of Mexico as the Black Sun is bought forward.
